In September we photographed our very first wedding. Specialising mainly in baby and family photography, weddings weren’t something we had considered but the couple had seen our work and were insistent they wanted us to photograph their big day, so naturally we accepted the new challenge!
Ian and Harriet married in Timperley at a church with significant family history, then spent the afternoon and evening at Cranage Hall. We turned up early to get those all-important ‘bride getting ready’ shots, and then spent some time with the groom and his boys before the ceremony. The whole thing was a bit nerve wracking, I think it’s safe to say I was more nervous than the bride and groom put together! Photographing a wedding is such a huge responsibility! The ceremony was perfect though; I could have easily put down my camera and had a little cry myself!
We spent time with them in the local park after the wedding, taking a breather, playing on the swings and round-about like big kids, then on to Cranage Hall for some photographs in the surroundings. Formal shots were mostly out of the window – Ian and Harriet were much more at ease just giggling and having fun with each other! Sounds like grounds for a great marriage!
After speech’s, food, drinks, cake cutting, dancing and more drinking, we took Ian and Harriet outside for some night shots, armed with a light from the studio. It was hilarious and a great end to a really lovely day. As for wedding photography…loved every second of it!!
